Wentworth - Homeless Summer Appeal
On any given night in Australia 6,300 people are sleeping rough.
Not only can there be complex mental health issues associated with sleeping rough, but in summer the additional physical issues such as dehydration and heat stroke escalate the situation.
Our specialist Outreach Team work to develop trusted relationships with rough sleepers in the Penrith, Hawkesbury and Blue Mountains regions, ultimately supporting them to transition from the bush, street or river bank, into a home.
This was the case for Dave and Alan, a father and son who our Outreach Team found living under the bridge at Windsor. After connecting with support services, Dave and Alan were able to get back on their feet, initially staying in transitional housing and within 6 months securing a private rental.
With your help, we would like to change more lives like Dave and Alan's.
A TAX DEDUCTIBLE DONATION OF
Supporting other programs helping people in our community. Here are some examples of how we support people in our local communities:-
- Children’s play area in a disadvantaged local area
- Sports scholarships for underprivileged children in the local community
- The provision of community picnic/meeting areas
- Overnight transitional accommodation for people facing homelessness
- The provision of furniture and basic essentials for someone moving into a home after having experienced homelessness
- Permanent Housing for people in danger of experiencing homelessness
